Best of 2017

2017 was a great year for metal and the first time that all three top spots have been filled by metal albums. Nightmare Logic is an exemplary Thrash record that proves the genre is still alive and well.  Timewell (Cloakroom's first album for Relapse) toes the line between stoner metal, heavy shoegaze, & emo.  Mirror Reaper pushes doom into a beautiful new dimension.

2017 - Albums in Review

Upon realizing that this year is coming to a close (very shortly in fact), my year end list of best albums has yet to be made public.  For me, its been a year of metal dominance in the top 5, followed by powerful women and some pop tunes. A new passion of mine this year, was scouring Spotify to find female metal groups which led me to many a nights looking at small labels and listening to bandcamps.  Ragana's You Take Nothing is a ominous, dark, and powerful statement which can be taken as an independent cry from the struggle of this year. Well done.
